OATI Successfully Completes WIB Standards Audit on Smart Grid Solutions

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) completes audit on webDistribute and webSmartView, attesting to security and compliance of OATI’s Smart Grid solutions.

Minneapolis, MN: June 17, 2013 – Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is pleased to announce that OATI webDistribute and OATI webSmartView, two applications within the OATI webSmartEnergy suite of applications, have successfully completed an audit against the Process Control Domain – Security Requirements for Vendors (WIB Standards). The WIB Standards were established by the International Instrument Users Association (WIB), an international consortium of control system operators and users. The WIB Standards set forth best practices for developing and deploying Smart Grid devices, applications, and supporting processes and procedures.

OATI webDistribute and webSmartView are securely hosted within the OATI Cloud infrastructure. OATI webDistribute provides utilities and other entities control and analytics over a multitude of Smart Grid devices deployed in the field. OATI webSmartView is a consumer-facing application that provides the end-user control and insight into their Smart Grid participation, such as participation in a utility-sponsored Demand Response program.

The OATI Cloud infrastructure has previously demonstrated compliance with a host of other industry standards, including SSAE16/ISAE3402 standards, NERC CIP, WebTrust for Certificate Authorities, NIST SP 800-53 applicable to cloud hosting providers, and the NAESB WEQ-012 standards applicable to certificate authorities.

“Security of the energy industry and Smart Grid are of paramount importance to OATI,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, Ph.D., President and CEO of OATI. “Compliance with the WIB Standards further establishes OATI’s commitment to providing the most secure and reliable hosting environment for today’s Smart Grid applications.”
