Microgrids that EPCs and developers can stand behind.
A vendor-agnostic microgrid control platform, and a partner that stays with the project from design through commissioning and beyond. Simply put: OATI helps EPCs and developers win more microgrid deals and deliver successful projects for their customers.
You’re not buying a microgrid — you’re delivering one, often on a fixed bid and a fixed timeline, with your reputation riding on whether it performs long after the ribbon is cut. What EPCs and developers need from a controls partner isn’t just software. It’s a platform that works across projects and equipment vendors, and a team that’s still standing beside you when the suppliers have moved on to the next job.

What matters to EPCs and microgrid developers
Vendor- and asset-agnostic controls. GridMind® is DER-agnostic and built on standardized protocols, so you’re not locked into one manufacturer’s equipment. Design the best system for each project and still control it from one consistent platform.
De-risked delivery. OATI’s digital twin technology lets you simulate microgrid operation and test control sequences before deployment — so you commission with assurance instead of surprises.
A partner through the whole lifecycle. OATI provides design, engineering, and deployment services and runs its own site acceptance testing after each vendor completes theirs, staying engaged through the entire project even as vendors and EPCs rotate on and off.
Repeatable across your portfolio. Standardize on one controls approach instead of relearning a new system on every project — faster delivery, fewer surprises, cleaner handoffs.
Where we fit into your scope
| Project Phase | EPC / Developer Owns | OATI Supports |
|---|---|---|
| Concept / Feasibility | Site selection, ownership structure, financing, permitting | Microgrid/DER consulting: site walk, load profile review, concept design input |
| Design | Civil, structural, mechanical, general electrical design of record | Controls & data network design: BoM, enclosure layout, data network documents, sequence of operations — built to hand into your design package |
| Procurement / Construction | Equipment procurement, construction management, field installation | Controller hardware, GridMind software, low-voltage controls package — spec’d to your BoM, not competing for the construction contract |
| Commissioning | Overall system acceptance, owner handoff | FAT/SAT, network configuration, load-shed scheme validation, site-specific user guide |
| Operations | O&M contract (if retained) | Standing platform + optional DERMS tie-in for asset monetization |
How we support EPC and developer microgrid projects
Woven Energy, a tribal energy developer, was leading a multi-site microgrid project for the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians in Northern California. They needed a partner that could support the onsite microgrid controls and resource optimization in addition to engineering and design support.
OATI GridMind® is integrated in both microgrid sites to optimize how each system produces, stores and uses power through automated, timely and rule-based actions. OATI also provided design and deployment expertise to support integrated controls in normal operations and the ability for each microgrid to operate together or independently. Ultimately, tribal leaders aim to use GridMind® as the key enabler of an independent, tribal-owned utility.
